I'm a fiction writer, poet, teacher, composer, publisher, and editor. I grew up in a small town that is, sadly, getting bigger with every passing week. I met my wife on a camping trip. I studied creative writing, computer science, physics, education, and music composition in college. And I tend to think that, for the most part, we're supposed to enjoy being alive.

I like to think magic really exists, that other worlds are waiting for us to discover them, and that writing a story is the most noble thing a person can do with his or her life.

I like glaciers and red desert canyons.

I like music as long as it's good symphonic, jazz, classic rock, bluegrass, classic metal, choral, contemporary rock, or piano.

If I had been in the concert hall during the performance of 4'33" I would have demanded my money back—there's only so much avant garde I can stand.
